Modern EAV (Electro Acupuncture after Voll) Overview of Modern EAV Dr. Reinhard Voll, was a medical doctor who brought about the use of measurements of what are known as acupuncture points. These points were extensively researched by Voll and his students, by measuring the body points on patients with known pathological conditions and seeing what and if any correlation there was between the groups sets of measurements taken, these were then finally documented into the system as it is known today. This is essentially how the Voll - EAV system evolved. It is not a TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) based system. The system is a Western Medical based system with allied medical terminology, developed in Europe.
Meridians / energy lines, are a typical example of the differences between these therapeutic areas of treatment. The Voll system as opposed to the TCM system, has extra meridians. An example of which is the lymphatic meridian, which is an important meridian diagnostically from any practitioners point of view. This meridian can be measured by a competent Modern Acupuncture EAV practitioner objectively, as an 'information' centre, in readiness for treatment if it is required. The EAV Course ESMA is in the process of researching and having a unit manufactured that does more than the expensive EAV units do by taking extra measurement values that these units do not take for diagnosis. It is hoped to have a basic software package with the unit that will be run from a laptop computer and at a later date more advanced software. If you have your own EAV unit that can measure properly 'numerically', then you are welcome to join the course. The basics of the EAV course are not computerised, as with a computerised unit there is a 'shortfall' of knowledge and too much reliance on software packages.
An example of which was a course with units that had computerised software and when the practitioners laptops were switched off and they were asked to find certain points they failed to do so and wanted to turn their laptops back on- follow the yellow brick road !
So our basic course has to do with learning the points and what they represent in anatomy / physiology with a thinking approach as to why they have shown ? Not just following the 'dot' on a software package.
As far as ESMA is concerned this does not make an EAV / EDS practitioner, even though there are some skills involved at this elementary level. To a certain extent this has denigrated EAV / EDS in the sense that practitioners rely on their software to tell them what is happening BUT not why it is happening !
Do we know 'everything', no we don't and anyone who states that they do should be avoided like the plague. There isn't one mode of diagnosis / treatment that knows everything, if there was all the other types would be defunct and everyone would be healthy, well in theory they would.
Modern Acupuncture has the diversity and skills to allow practitioners to combine and expand their knowledge base in combination with the life styles of our toxic environment in diagnosis and treatment that TCM does not recognise. Yes, we recognise that TCM has its place, but so have Modern Acupuncture skills and techniques.
As a final statement 'if you cannot diagnose it, then you cannot treat it'.
